The solar boat museum contains the 141 feet long boat. It is just one of the five pits of boat found around the pyramid of Cheops.  This Egyptian solar boat museum is actually a pavilion which is made of glass and has humidity-controlled features. The boat displayed in this museum is made of purely cedar wood which has a length of more than 120 feet long and weighing about 40 tons.

This solar boat Egypt is reconstruction in 14 long years from over one thousand two hundred pieces of woods from the original boat. Hundreds of ropes and vegetable fibers were used to stitch together the pieces of woods with u-shaped holes. Certainly, it was not an easy job but the tedious labor proved useful to come up with such a splendid creation for generations to behold.

The solar boat museum is a work of art and indeed the masterpiece of the Egyptologist named Kamal El – Mallakh who was born in Assuit, Egypt. He discovered the solar boat of the great King Cheops in 1954. It was believed the solar boat Egypt played a big role in the pharaoh’s funeral rites as it was part of the ancient tradition of Egypt to use boats to carry the dead passing the Nile River to the Funeral Temple.

This goes with their belief that the boat will accompany the dead with the sun on its journey to heavy or when they roam around the world even afterlife.
